Pop singer Selena Gomez has cancelled her Australia tour to focus on herself.

A rep for Gomez confirmed to MTV that she has indeed cancelled the Australian leg of her Stars Dance tour.

"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them," Gomez said in a statement. "But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."

Reuters reports that her Australian leg was originally going to be composed of five stops. The first one on Feb. 1 in Perth, then Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, and closing in Melbourne on Feb. 8.

This was Gomez's first world tour, and before its start, she told MTV that she wanted her fans to be "exhausted."

"The tour is going to be really fun. I also want them to be exhausted when they leave my shows, because I want it to be like a giant rave," Gomez said.

In between her tour dates, Gomez also scheduled in a Thanksgiving halftime performance at Cowboys Stadium as well as an X Factor performance of "Slow Down."

Gomez is set to tour Asia in January, and will then take the time to slow down and take a breather.
