Demi Lovato will not be returning the for the next season of X-Factor, Simon Cowell has confirmed.

Cowell, who is the creator of X-Factor and is a fellow judge, confirmed the news yesterday saying that he always knew Lovato would not be staying, Billboard added.

Cowell explained that because of Lovato's upcoming tour, he knew that she would not be coming back to seat her in the judges table. E! Online reported.

Lovato came onto the show at the beginning of its second season back in 2012 with Britney Spears. Lovato and Spears replaced former judges, Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul.

The singer was thankful for her time on the show but said in a statement that she wanted to get back to her music and fans. "I started the show being a singer and a musician, and so I'm going to go back to that. It's been really great, but I'm so excited for 2014. I'm going to dedicate it completely and entirely to music—touring and making a new album. Possibly releasing one," said Lovato.

Lovato will be heading out on tour starting on Feb. 9th in Vancouver, but she has plans to take her X-Factor family with her. The "Neon Lights" star will have three opening acts on her tour, including, Little Mix, Fifth Harmony and Cher Lloyd.
