Distilled in Scotland, using water from a tributary of River Spey- Speyburn 10 year Single Malt Scotch Whiskey is a light, smooth, whisky, that even impressed me (not being much of a scotch/whiskey drinker). It lacked the distinct burning aftertaste that I often don't care for in a whiskey, and instead was surprisingly smooth.
I personally liked the warm, almost spicy flavor with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. My husband, a more experienced and discerning scotch whiskey drinker, was equally impressed with the distinct, yet subtle flavors.
Packaged in a cylindrical tube, this makes an ideal gift, perfect for the upcoming holiday season. It is also a gift you can feel good about giving, as Speyburn has recently joined forces with the Spey Foundation, working on conservation efforts along the River Spey.
While I have no doubt this would make an excellent cocktail, my advice would be to enjoy this one on the rocks and savor the flavors!
