Throughout the year, Taylor Swift has proved that she really cares about her fans, often reaching out to them and making donations to foundations. The country star’s good work has made her the most charitable celebrity according to DoSomething.org, which promotes social change.
Swift landed at the top of the organization’s annual Top 10 Celebs Gone Good list, which she did last year as well. DoSomething.org was particularly impressed by her $100,000 donation to the Nashville Symphony earlier this month. She also recently attended a Centrepoint event hosted by Prince William. That group helps homeless youths in the U.K.
One Direction came in at No. 2 this year, thanks to the $784,345 they helped raise for cancer research and £2 million for those living in poverty in the U.K. and Africa. Beyonce was praised for performing at the ‘Chimes for Change’ show in London, which earned her the third spot.
The late Paul Walker came in at No. 4 thanks to his Reach Out WorldWide charity, which aims to help people learn first responder skills. Universal is donating portions of the Fast & Furious 6 home video profits to the charity.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis rounded out the Top 5. The rest of the Top 20 includes Sandra Bullock, Kerry Washington, Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Seacrest, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Lawrence, Alicia Keys, Bryan Cranston & Aaron Paul, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Blake Shelton, Mindy Kaling, Kevin Durant, Kendrick Lamar and Justin Bieber.
“"It’s pretty amazing that the top two spots on the list are held by celebrities under age 25," DoSomething.org CEO Naomi Hirabayashi told Billboard. “For the first time, 50 percent of the list is age 30 or younger. This rising generation is using their money and star power for good.”
