A teenage girl may have been saved by her glasses which deflected a bullet fired during a drive by shooting in Seattle.
Gunfire hit the 16-year-old girl’s 54th Avenue South and South Roxbury Street intersection home while the teenager laid on the couch.
According to the Seattle Police Dept website, there were several people inside the home. Around 9:40 pm a dark colored sedan drove by the home while firing several shots at the residence. The victim was struck by a bullet that hit just the bridge of her glasses. The glasses broke but the girl was spared serious injury.
Another person inside the home called 911 just as the car came back to fire at the house again. When police arrived the girl was awake and transported to the hospital for minor injuries notes USA Today.
Authorites found many shell casings in the street but have not located the vehicle involved in the shooting. It is believed that the home was the intended target but the teenage girl was not who the shooting was meant to harm.
Police have not released the name of the girl or who the shooting was aimed at.
