Although The Beatles probably have more awards than any other artist in music history, but they are about to receive another one. The group, along with the Isley Brothers, Kris Kristofferson and others have been named the 2014 recipients of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards.
The Recording Academy announced the Special Merit Awards recipients, who will be honored during a private ceremony on Jan. 25, 2014. They will be acknowledged during the Grammys the following day, Jan. 26.
The other recipients of the Lifetime Achievement awards are influential German group Kraftwerk, Louisiana Zydeco musician Clifton Chenier, Mexican composer Armando Manzanero and classical musician Armando Manzanero.
Producer Rick Hall, guitar amp innovator Jim Marshall and film composer Ennio Morricone will receive the Trustees Awards. Emile Berliner and Lexicon will be presented the Technical Awards.
The award for the Beatles will come just before fans celebrate the 50th anniversary of their arrival in the U.S. CBS and the Recording Academy are planning a special marking the occasion on Feb. 9.
The Grammy nominations were last week and the ceremony will air live on CBS from the Staples Center.
