The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was the year's most pirated film, with Django Unchained and Fast And Furious 6 close behind.

The Hobbit managed to rack up an estimated 8.4 million downloads for 2013 through file-sharing service BitTorrent, reports Torrent Freak, who collected the data through different statistic reports and tracker data. Right on the heels of the Peter Jackson film is Django, which was torrented 8.1 million and Fast was at 7.9 million.

Despite the astounding amount of illegal downloads between just those three, the films still had huge worldwide grosses, with The Hobbit managing over $1 billion, with Fast And Furious 6 at $788 million and Django's $425 million.

According to Variety, the rest of the top 10 list of pirated films include several summer hits and a few smaller films. Marvel's Iron Man 3 came in third with 7.6 million downloads, followed by Silver Linings Playbook (7.5 million), Star Trek Into Darkness (7.4 million), Gangster Squad (7.2 million), Now You See Me (7 million), The Hangover Part 3 (6.9 million) and World War Z (6.7 million).

TF notes that the compiled numbers do not include cyberlockers, which could boost the numbers even higher.
