This week’s Trailer Park puts a spotlight on indie films. Even though they may not have the studio backing of major releases, these lesser known films have some serious star power. Liam Neeson, Steve Buscemi, Tim Allen, John Goodman, Penelope Cruz, Emile Hirsch and Laurence Fishburne are among those that head the new releases. In one drama, Justin Timberlake takes on a new genre of music.

John Goodman, Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan and Justin Timberlake star in the Coen Brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis. The limited released musical drama takes place over the course of a week in NYC’s Greenwich Village in 1961. It tells the story of a struggling folk singer trying to make a name for himself. The one hour and forty-four minute film is rated R for language.

A zebra is outcast from his superstitious herd because he’s missing stripes in Khumba. Because he looks different than the rest of the zebras, he is blamed for causing a drought in the land. As a result, he goes on a mission to find the water hole where, according to legend, the first zebras received their stripes. The unrated, animated film features the voices of Liam Neeson, Jake T. Austin, Steve Buscemi and Laurence Fishburne. It’s playing in limited theaters for one hour and twenty-four minutes.

A disagreement between neighbors causes a five year feud in Breakfast with Curtis. The rift begins when Syd threatens a 9-year-old Curtis after he catches him throwing rocks at his cat. Now, five years later, Syd is looking to gain Curtis’ help in creating a video to promote his bookstore. Curtis is initially hesitant because of the bad blood between their families, but decides to take on the project. Working with Syd for the summer changes his life and brings peace to the neighborhood. The unrated, one hour and twenty-four minute comedic drama is playing in limited theaters.

Get a glimpse at the life of a young King Penguin with Adventures of the Penguin King. The one hour and sixteen minute documentary follows a penguin named Rex as he searches for food and love while trying to survive the elements and dodge predators. The PG film is narrated by Tim Allen. It’s available in limited theaters.

Penelope Cruz and Emile Hirsch star in Twice Born. The two hour and seven minute drama is based on Margaret Mazzantini’s popular novel about love in a time of war. A widowed woman brings her son to Sarajevo to show him where she first fell in love with his father. While there, she reminisces and uncovers secrets from her past. The limited released film is rated R for violence, sex, language and drugs.

A crime scene photographer dreams of a better life with a girl on his arm and peace on the streets in in Crave. He falls for a woman and becomes a vigilante to clean up the streets, but the line between his dreams and reality start to blur and he finds himself in more trouble than he can handle. The unrated drama is running for one hour and fifty-three minutes in limited theaters.

An up and coming lawyer decides to change his career path and become a house singer at an old cocktail lounge in The Foxes Den. After giving up the high life with a job at a renowned law firm and an engagement to a beautiful woman, Bobby Kelly is able to dig down deep and learn about himself and what he values in life. The one romantic drama is playing for one hour and forty-three minutes in limited theaters.

A teen feels that the best way for her to be popular is to sleep her way to the top in S#x Acts. After many encounters, she begins to accept acts that border and even cross the line of abuse. The one hour and thirty-six minute drama is unrated and available in limited theaters.

A man battles between good and evil in Swerve. After taking a short cut through a small town, a man witnesses a deadly car accident and finds a dead body, a scared woman and a briefcase full of cash. He fights off the temptation to keep the money and hands it off to the local police. This act of goodness ends up getting him entangled in a deadly web of crime. The limited released crime thriller runs for one hour and twenty-six minutes. It’s rated R for violence, language and sex.

It was all about the indie films this week, but the blockbusters are gearing up to take over next week. December 13 is the released date for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas.
