Simon Pegg had a good 2013 after starring in Stark Trek Into Darkness and The World's End and hopes to continue the streak with A Fantastic Fear of Everything.
Pegg's latest film is a low-budget horror-comedy on the novella Paranoia in the Launderette by Bruce Robinson. Pegg stars as Jack, a children's author-turned-crime-novelist, who has become obsessed with murderers and their crimes. Working on his new book makes him paranoid. While negotiating a deal for turning his book into a movie he becomes convinced he is the next target of the infamous Hanoi Handshake Killer.
If you're a fan of Simon Pegg this looks like it will be right up your alley, especially if you're a fan of his work with Edgar Wright. Wright's work tends to poke fun at the conventions of whichever genre he is working in and this trailer indicates there's some of that in this film. If you're not a fan of that British style of humor then you might not get a lot of of this one. On the other hand there's definitely more to the film than laughs. The art direction and set design of the film seem really cool and the horror elements are just weird enough to make me want to gives this a chance.
A Fantastic Fear of Everything hits video on demand on Jan. 7 and select theaters on Feb. 7.
