Two years later after her death, Brenda Schmitz has sent in her Christmas list and has gotten her wishes granted.
Brenda was 46 when she died of stage four ovarian cancer, according to ABC News. As a small gift to her husband and children, Brenda left a letter with a trusted friend to deliver to KSTZ Star 102.5 in Des Moines, Iowa. Her friend was to wait until her husband, David, found a new wife to spend his life with before she delivered the letter to the station.
Listeners send their Christmas wish letters to the station and the station picks a select few to be granted. Brenda’s friend pulled through and according to CNN.com the letter was delivered, anonymously, about a week and a half ago to the station.
The station decided to grant the wishes that Brenda had written two years ago for her husband, her children, his fiancee and his fiancee’s children (if she had any).
There were three wishes in Brenda’s letter: a massage for David’s fiancee (for having to handle her boys), a trip for the whole family (including stepchildren), and a night full of drinks and fun for the team at Mercy Medical Hospital that took such great care of her while she was ill.
As the radio station host, Colleen Kelly, read the letter to David and his family her voice was shaky. The touching letter brought a tear to every eye in the office and many tears in the eyes of those listening.
David said that he was not at all surprised by his wife’s letter. He knew that she had always been there.
