It was recently announced that will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas fame, that the singer canceled a New Year's Eve appearance in Rio de Janerio. The event was Rio’s Copacabana New Year’s Eve event or Réveillon de Copacabana as it is more commonly known. Will.i.am is now claiming that he never agreed to be a part of the festivities.

Billboard reported that a variety of reports indicated that the "Scream and Shout" singer canceled his appearance at Rio's Copacabana New Year's event, but management for will.i.am says the artist never officially signed on to perform on New York Eve.

Polo Molina, manager for will.i.am, released a statement regarding the incident. "During discussions about the invitation, the event producer expressed an intention to televise the concert. will.i.am's management team requested certain staging elements be added for the show in order to accommodate his televised performance. These staging elements were not confirmed, so no agreement to perform was ever reached," said Molina.

Rio Timesadded that the event was themed in celebration of the upcoming release of the animated movie, Rio 2, which features the voice of will.i.am.
