He was so ugly he was cute and he won fans the world over. He even inspired children through books. So, it is sad to say that Elwood, the world’s ugliest dog passed away on Thanksgiving day.
Elwood, a mixed breed of Chihuahua and Chinese Crested was crowned the world’s ugliest dog in 2007. He was basically hairless except for a tuff of hair on his forehead and he had a super long tongue that hung out of the side of his mouth. Still, his owner Karen Quigley loved him. “He was in my arms,” reports>a href=http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/11/30/usa-newjersey-uglydog-idUSL2N0JF0ML20131130 ,”it was very sudden.”
Karen Quigley saved Elwood from a breeder who was going to euthanize him because he was too ugly to sell. According to >http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/11/30/worlds-ugliest-dog-dies-on-thanksgiving/> Time/a> Elwood inspired Quigley to write the children’s book “Everyone Loves Elwood,” which contains the lesson that children should accept themselves the way they are.
Elwood had been having some health problems but was doing well, therefore his death was unexpected. He was 8-years old.
