On Monday, fans and fellow musicians gathered in Los Angeles to honor Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr during the Beatles tribute, The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles.
Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Keith Urban, and other celebrities joined in honoring the night that the Beatles first appeared on American television. In 1964, 73 million Americans watched the band on the Ed Sullivan Show, according to Reuters.
The tribute performance featured many memorable songs. Brad Paisley and Pharrell Williams took to the stage to sing the Beatles favorite, “Here Comes the Sun.” According to the Associated Press, Paisley said in an interview, “We are honoring the most important band of all time, and trying to do justice to their song while two of them sit there.”
At the end of the evening, McCartney and Starr took to the stage for the songs, “Hey Jude” and ”With a Little Help from My Friends.”
The Night That Changed America: a Grammy Salute to the Beatles will air on CBS on Feb. 9.
