A 17 year old boy and 18 year old girl were shot around 3:30 p.m. on Friday at in the gym at Delaware Valley Charter School in Philadelphia, PA. The shooter first shot the girl in the arm, and the bullet went through the back and into the boy’s shoulder.
According to CBS Philly News, after watching the surveillance video, authorities say that it looks to be an accidental shooting.
The boy and girl were taken to the Albert Einstein Medical center, and are in stable condition. Both are expected to make a full recovery. The girl was released while the boy had to stay at the center.
According to ABC News, a 17 year old boy turned himself in around 1 p.m. on Saturday to Northwest Detectives. His identity is being kept anonymous. He is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His lawyer said, “"He's a good solid kid and you'll see he has no prior record. He stays out of trouble and he's been cooperating with police. Thank you very much.”
Two other students were picked up on suspicion, but were later cleared and let go.
This school shooting comes after a 12 year old student from Berrendo Middle school in Roswell, NM shot a young girl and boy. The girl, Kendal Sanders, was released from the hospital, and Nathaniel Tavarez, who is still in critical condition.
