The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced the behind-the-scenes crew who will be working to make sure that the 2014 Oscars ceremony with Ellen DeGeneres goes as smoothly as possible. That crew includes Hamish Hamilton, who has plenty of experience when it comes to putting together live TV broadcasts.
Hamilton’s wide range of credits includes Beyonce’s 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. The Academy noted that he has also been tapped to direct Bruno Mars’ 2014 Super Bowl halftime show next month. He also earned an Emmy nomination for directing the broadcast of the 2012 London Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony and won a Peabody in 2011 for CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute.
Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will reunite with production designer Derek McLane, who earned an emmy nod for last year’s Oscars. McLane is a Broadway vet, with four Tony nominations on his resume. He also worked on NBC’s The Sound of Music Live!.
Choreographer Rob Ashford, who also worked on NBC’s Sound of Music broadcast, is also going to work on the ceremony. He also worked on the 2009 and 2013 ceremonies. Other members of the production staff include music director William Ross; costume designers Julie Weiss and Bruce Pask; writers Kristin Gore, Amy Ozols and Jon Macks; talent producer Taryn Hurd; supervising producer Michael Seligman; co-producer Lee Lodge; and lighting designer Robert Dickinson.
DeGeneres will also craft her material with her own team of writers.
Yesterday, Zadan and Meron announced the Movie Heroes theme for the March 2 ceremony. The Oscar nominations are announced Thursday morning.
