Over 300 people on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship are now reported becoming ill during one of its cruises.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 281 passengers and 22 crew members of the ship reported vomiting and diarrhea while on the voyage, approximately 7 percent of those aboard the ship. The cause of the illness still remains unknown.

In response to the outbreak, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line increased cleaning procedures and notified passengers onboard about the outbreak.

Royal Caribbean International told CNN that those who complained about feeling ill responded well to over-the-counter medication, which was given aboard the ship.

A CDC health officer and epidemiologist will report to the ship, Explorer of the Seas, on Sunday in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, to investigate the quality of health on the ship and evaluate the situation overall.

The ship left Cape Liberty, New Jersey on January 21 and is planning to make stops in St. Thomas and St. Maarten.
