A24 has acquired the rights to Gillian Robespierre's Obvious Child, which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival.

According to Deadline, who first reported the news, A24 bought the rights for the Robespierre's debut film for a low seven figure sum. She also wrote the script for the film.

The film stars former Saturday Night Live comedian Jenny Slate, notes The Hollywood Reporter. Slate's character finds out she is pregnant and that her boyfriend cheated on her and is dumping her. She schedules an abortion, but worries and frets as the appointment rapidly approaches.

At the moment, A24 plans to release Obvious Child into theaters sometime during this year.

A24 has been busy at the festival as it also acquired the domestic rights for Lynn Shelton's Laggies, Deadline also reported. This movie features Keira Knightley, Sam Rockwell and Chloe Moretz.

Laggies is about a woman who hides out from her boyfriend's marriage proposal by hanging with a bunch of high school kids.
