Amanda Knox speaks out in an exclusive interview about the new guilty verdict the2007 murder trial of Meredith Kercher.
Good Morning America was able to speak with Knox, 26, about the reinstated verdict Friday.
“It really hit me like a train,” Knox told anchor Robin Roberts. “I really expected so much better from the Italian justice system.”
Knox was sentenced to more than 28 years in Italian prison. Initially, she was going to wait for her lawyers to tell her the outcome of the new trial, but ended up finding an Italian television station online that allowed her to hear the verdict.
“I couldn’t help myself,” Know said. “I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My whole family was there and I was listening and I’m the only one who knows Italian.”
According to Daily Mail, Knox refuses to return to the Italian courts without a fight.
“I will never willingly go back,” Knox said. “I will fight this to the end.”
Knox, along with ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, 29, had already served four years in prison before their first conviction was appealed.
