While all eyes were on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when their baby, Prince George, was born last year, another royal baby was in the making.
It was announced on Friday that the Queen's fourth great-grandchild was born, making her the 16th in line to the throne.
Zara Phillips, the daughter of Princess Anne and granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, gave birth to a 7-pound, 12-ounce baby girl. No name has been released yet, but it will be exciting to find out if they will go for a traditional royal family name or something unique, much like her mother’s name.
According to Today, Phillips married Mike Tindall, a rugby player, in July of 2011. This is their first child together.
CBS News reported that on Friday, Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying, "The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike's parents, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby's name will be confirmed in due course."
The UK Prime Minister tweeted his congratulations to the new parents.
