The British Academy of Film and Television Arts have announced their nominees for the Rising Star Award.

The Associated Press reports that Lupita Nyong'o and Lea Seydoux are among the nominees.

The list of stars include Lupita Nyong'o for 12 Years a Slave, Lea Seydoux for Blue is the Warmest Color, Dane DeHaan for Kill Your Darlings, George Mackay for Sunshine on Earth, and Will Poulter for We're the Millers.

According to BBC News, this year the nominees were selected by Actress Gemma Arterton, deputy chair of Bafta's film committee Pippa Harris, and film critic Mark Kermode.

The award is given to both newcomers to film, and those already with a history.

Previous Rising Star Award winners include James McAvoy, who was the first to receive the award in 2006, Eva Green, Shia Labeouf, Noel Clarke, Kristen Stewart, Tom Hardy, Adam Deacon, and Juno Temple.

"It's always tough to choose five nominees from the hundreds of suggestions from our members and film industry figures, and this year has been no exception," Harris said.

Voting takes place online until Feb. 14, and the winner will be announced during the British Academy Film Awards on Feb. 16.
