Brie Larson, who impressed critics with her performance in Short Term 12 last year, has signed on to star in The Good Luck of Right Now for Dreamworks. The project is based on a new novel by Matthew Quick, the writer of Silver Linings Playbook.

Variety reports that Larson will be working with directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the husband/wife duo behind Little Miss Sunshine and Ruby Sparks. Mike White is adapting Quick’s book, which is being published on Feb. 11, 2014. The producer is Bruce Cohen.

Larson will only be one part of an ensemble cast, since Quick’s story centers on four people who are outsiders. They come together to discuss their own problems and become a family, notes The Hollywood Reporter.

Larson recently appeared in The Spectacular Now, Short Term 12 and 21 Jump Street. She is starring in Paramount’s The Gambler remake next.

As for Quick, he is working on another novel, titled Love May Fail. That book was picked up by Sony in September. The book is due out sometime in 2015. Quick became a hot author in Hollywood after David O. Russell directed Silver Linings Playbook to multiple Oscar nominations and the film featured an Oscar-winning performance from Jennifer Lawrence.
