Country sensation Dolly Parton, and actress Katey Sagal are celebrating their birthdays today.

Dolly Parton, 68

Country singer-songwriter, musician, and actress Dolly Parton turns 68 today. Parton started performing country/bluegrass songs at a young age before making a transition to mainstream pop music. Her single "Here You Come Again" in 1977 became successful on both the pop and country charts. Her two most successful hits, "9 to 5" and "Islands in the Stream," a duet with Kenny Rogers, both topped the U.S. pop and country Billboard charts. In the late 1990s, Parton went back to country/bluegrass music.
In her career, Parton rceived 25 RIAA certified gold, platinum, and multi-platinum awards. 25 of her songs reached No. 1 on the Billboard country chart, a record for a female artist. 41 of her albums have also reached the top 10 in the country charts, a record for any artist. Parton has won eight Grammy Awards, two Academy Award nominations, 10 Country Music Association Awards, five Academy of Country Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and was presented with a CMA Entertainer of the Year honor. In 1999, she was entered into the Country Hall of Fame.
Parton also appeared in a few films including Steel Magnolias, Gnomeo & Juliet, and Joyful Noise. Her new album, Blue Smoke, is scheduled to be released in May 2014, and Parton is currently on tour, promoting the album.

Katey Sagal, 60

Actress and singer-songwriter Katey Sagal turns 60 today. Sagal started acting in several television movies between 1971 and 75. Her first major roe was as a newspaper columnist in the series Mary, opposite Mary Tyler Moore.In 1987, Sagal played Peggy Bundy in the hit series Married...with Children. after the series ended in 1997, Sagal starred in more television movies before landing the part of Leela in the animated series Futurama in 1999. After the show ended, she made appearances in other television shows including Recess, That '70s Show, Tucker, and LOST.
In 2002, Sagal played the wife of John Ritter in the series 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter. The show was cancelled in 2005, shortly after Ritter's death. Sagal currently plays Gemmma Teller Morrow in the hit FX series Sons of Anarchy, which she won a Golden Globe in 2011. She married Sons of Anarchy creater, Kurt Sutter, in 2004.
