Cinesite, a British digital effects company, has chosen Montreal for their new VFX facility. Cinesite is based in London. Representatives say Montreal is the perfect place for the new facility, as the city boasts expanding gaming, software, and technology sectors. The Canadian province also offers generous tax credits for visual effects and other digital work.
Cinesite managing director Antony Hunt told The Hollywood Reporter,"This burgeoning creative hub, combined with the investment support offered by the government of Québec, makes it the ideal location for us."
The expansion for the international studio follows the sale of the visual effects house to Endless LLP. The new facility in Canada will have space for 250 artists. Cinesite will share work on new projects between London and Montreal.
One of the first projects to be worked on at the new location in Montreal is Guy Ritchie’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E.. Hugh Grant is one of the celebrities who appeared in the film. According to the Daily Mail, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. takes place in the sixties. The film also features Jared Harris and Elizabeth Debicki.
