Heather Jensen, whose two sons died from hyperthermia in her car, was acquitted of one charge, but found guilty on others.

According to The Associated Press, the jury was split on the charges and could not find her guilty of criminally negligent homicide.

They did find Jensen guilty of false reporting and child abuse that resulted in death.

The coroner had reported that the boys' deaths were "very unusual, extraordinary," as they made only the sixth case where a child died in the middle of winter of hyperthermia while in a car.

During 2012 in winter, Jensen left her two young sons, 2-year-old William Haze Jensen and 4-year-old Brandon Jensen, in her SUV for 65 minutes with the heat on full blast, reports Denver 7 News. While they were in her locked car, Jensen was getting high and having sex.

During the trial, her lawyer, Thea Reiff, had argued that she simply wasn't smart enough to understand any possible causes of leaving them in the overheated locked car.

AP notes Reiff said, "The guilt is something that Ms. Jensen will live with for the rest of her life. Don't compound this tragedy with an unfounded conviction" during closing arguments.
