Actress Shailene Woodley has so much on her plate that she might have to pass on finally getting to play Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Her scenes were cut from the second film in the franchise and now that she’s leading a franchise of her own, she might not get to play the part at all.

Woodley caught up with MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival, where she suggested that she might not have the time to do Spider-Man. After all, Lionsgate’s Divergent franchise is a trilogy and she also likes to do smaller scale projects, like the upcoming The Fault in our Stars.

“I don't know anything, but seeing as how they picked up the next two Divergent films, I don't know how I would keep my sanity with two big action films in one year,” Woodley told the site. Of course, she added, “But anything can happen,” leaving the door wide open.

Ever since Woodley wowed audiences in The Descendents in 2011, she has been one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood, starring in The Spectacular Now last year and making the first Divergent film. That film opens on March 21 and The Fault opens in June.

Woodley’s role in Spider-Man 2 was cut as the movie got bigger and more villains were introduced. There were reports back in June that Mary Jane might have to be recast anyway and Woodley’s scenes would just have to be dropped altogether.

“Looking back at it, MJ was in I think four scenes. I shot three days and they were good scenes, but they were also like 45-second long scenes, and to introduce such a vital character like that doesn't make much sense in the end,” Woodley told MTV in July.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 doesn’t hit theaters until June 10, 2016, so there’s a chance that she might have time. It also depends on how well Divergent does at the box office.
