The body of a U.S. Navy pilot was found by divers on Tuesday, the Navy said.
According to CNN, the body of Lt. Sean Christopher Snyder was recovered by divers searching the wreckage of the MH-53E Sea Dragon chopper which crashed last week off the coast of Virginia.
The discovery comes exactly one week after the tragic crash.
The Associated Press reported that five crew members were on board the chopper. Four were pulled from the water. Two died in the hospital and two were released.
The 39-year-old Snyder was the only person not accounted for after the crash.
"The family is truly thankful to the men and women of the United States Navy," the Snyder family said in a statement released by the Navy. "Sean was a man of honor and a true hero, not only to his country, but also to his wife, children, family, and friends. Our strength and trust remain in Christ."
A memorial service for the victims is set for Friday. The cause of the crash is still unknown.
