Police are saying that a female Indiana doctor displayed some erratic behavior before she went missing.

According to USA Today, after a co-worker dropped the resident doctor off at a hotel, her behavior was so alarming that it prompted a hotel employee to ask if she was OK.

In a news conference Wednesday, Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller said that Doctor Teleka Patrick told some colleagues she was going to Chicago to visit a relative. But told another that she needed money and a ride to a nearby hotel, the Associated Press notes.

Police have since been informed that the Kalamazoo doctor did exhibit some unusual behavior at times, but they are still puzzled by the events that led up to her disappearance.

Patrick did not get a room at the hotel, but instead asked someone for a ride back to the hospital. Once there, the driver saw her get into a car and drive away.

Hours later, police received reports of a car speeding and driving erratically along I-94. The car was later found in a ditch along the interstate. Patrick's wallet and driver's license were inside.

She has not been seen or heard from since she left the hospital in that car.
