Interim president, Adly Mansour, of Egypt announced on Sunday that the presidential election will be opened early due the dozens of people that were killed in a clash between police and Islamist protesters this weekend.
General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who dealt with the overthrowing of Islamist President Mohammad Morsi, was expected to announce his run for President after supporters gather in Tahrir Square, Cairo.
On Friday and Saturday, six car bombs went off in Cairo and in Suez, killing six people and injuring dozens more. The Health Ministry also confirmed that another 49 people were killed in a clash between police and Morsi's Islamist supporters and anti-military activists.
According to the AFP, the families of the deceased gather outside the morgue in Cairo chanting, "Down with the military! The people want to topple the regime!"
The Interior Ministry announced that they had arrested 1,079 people that were possession of rifles, petrol bombs, fireworks, and other weapons, Aljazeera reports.
A date has not been set for the Presidential Election.
