Actress Elizabeth Banks has signed on to make her directorial debut for the Pitch Perfect sequel.

A source involved in the sequel told TheWrap that the stars of the first film, Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, will return for the second film.

Pitch Perfect 2 will mark Banks' first time in the director's chair for a feature length film. She previously directed a segment of the film Movie 43 that was released last year.

Max Handelman and Banks will produce the movie through Brownstone Productions and will be helped by Gold Circle Films' Paul Brooks. Scott Niemeyer will executive produce.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pitch Perfect scribe Kay Cannon will return to write the sequel.

Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley said, "Elizabeth originated the idea for Pitch Perfect and was instrumental in making the first film such a huge success." She added, "we're thrilled that she is making her feature directorial debut on Pitch Perfect 2.

Banks recently appeared in the latest Hunger Games film Catching Fire and lent her voice for the upcoming The Lego Movie.
