Growing up is hard to do, and chasing after your dream may not be as easy as it seems. Emma Roberts stars in the new indie film Adult Worldwhere Amy (Roberts), pursues her dream of being a poet. Being broke and getting kicked out of her parent’s house was not what part of the plan, and being forced to find a job, she reluctantly takes one at an adult bookstore called Adult World.
The trailer shows Amy seeking the mentorship of Rat Billings (John Cusack), a reclusive poet and teacher, and begins a possible more-than-friends relationship with fellow employee Alex (Evan Peters). Throughout the two minute trailer we see Amy trying to make it as a poet, receiving rejection letters, and after getting kicked out of her parent’s house, and crashes at Billing’s house.
The character of Rat Billing’s is played well by Cusack; a cynical, brooding character that we all love to see Cusack play. As Vulture points out, one of his best line comes out giving advice to Amy stating she’s failed numerous times, "If you want to make art, you have to fail. The artist's job is to fail better."
MTV notes Adult World actually premiered at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival, and IFC will release the film in theaters, and Video On Demand and other digital outlets on February 14.
