Facebook’s COO Sheryl Sandberg, surpassed one billion after a record high day on Wall Street.
According to Bloomberg, the 44-year-old became one of the youngest female billionaires in the world Tuesday.
Time has reported that shares for the social network were up about 4 percent and closed at $58.51 on the day.
Sandberg is a donor to President Barack Obama, a best-selling author and sits on the board for the Walt Disney Co. and Starbucks Corp., where she was previously a director.
“Did she do a billion dollars-worth of work? I don’t know,” said David Kirkpatrick, author of The Facebook Effect. “She had the good fortune to land in the right place where her talents could really be applauded.”
The female mogul still has a long way to go to catch up to the company’s CEO, Mark Zukerberg, who is worth almost $25 billion.
The world’s richest man, Bill Gates, more than triples that value with a net worth of $78.5 billion.
