A couple from Mesquite, Texas, plans their wedding in just two and a half weeks to ensure that the father of the bride could be present.
Victoria McClure and Kevin Stixrud had planned to get married next December, just a year after Stixrud proposed. The couple then learned early January that McClure’s father, who has been battling gastrointestinal cancer for 12 years, had a terminal case, reports WFAA. In response, the family wanted to be positive he was able to attend the wedding.
The family initially discussed the possibility of having an immediate, small wedding at the hospital, but those who knew McClure well knew that she wanted a big wedding. Kristene O’Dell, McClure’s wedding coordinator, went to Facebook to seek donations for the fast wedding, according to Yahoo. As the news spread, numerous anonymous donations from strangers began to appear, and the wedding became a reality.
Due to the support of their church, the Mesquite First Assembly of God, a passing bridal show vending company, and the people of the Internet and the town of Mesquite, the father of the bride was able to walk her down the aisle.
