The filming of the movie adaptation of EL James’ best-selling book Fifty Shades of Grey is now underway but sources close to filming say there’s some tension on set between James and director Sam Taylor-Johnson.
They’re having some creative differences over whether or not to follow the book exactly how it is, and there is a bit of a push-pull going on.
"Sam is getting annoyed about the way the script is being handled," a source told E! News. "E.L. James wants the movie to match the book exactly, but Sam has a different perspective. Sam is reminding E.L. she writes books and she makes movies. This has caused some tension between the two of them."
Regardless of their alleged tension, the chemistry between the film’s stars, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, is better than ever. A set source said Dornan is “protective” of Johnson and they’re getting along great.
Fifty Shades of Grey producer Michael De Luca even told E! News that their chemistry is “hot.”
“The chemistry is there, they genuinely like each other," he said. "They're enjoying the story, the story is so powerful."
CBC News notes De Luca also talked about the sex scenes, saying a lot of them will be cut.
"Obviously, the film can't be as explicit as the book,” he said.
