The attorney for the former Port Authority official who was involved in the George Washington Bridge lane closures released a letter that alleges New Jersey Governor Chris Christie knew what was going on.
The former official, David Wildstein, claimed in a letter that he has evidence pointing towards Christie, The New York Times reports. He said the lane closures were described as under "the Christie administration's order."
The letter also says that "evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what" Christie has previously claimed.
Wildstein wrote in the letter that he has the ability to "prove the inaccuracy of some" of Christie's statements of denial as the governor did his best to push away from being tied to the lane closures.
Christie has always denied any knowledge or involvement in the lane closures on the bridge, placing the blame on his staff, especially top aide Bridget Anne Kelly.
It was revealed that the lane closures were allegedly done as a way to get back at the Democratic mayor of Fort Lee, who did not want to offer any support towards Christie.
