Days after Foster the People announced the release of their upcoming album, “Supermodel,” the California rockers can’t help but to give fans a taste of what’s to come with the release of the album’s first single, ‘Coming of Age.’
The American indie pop band is bouncing back from what seemed like a three-year hiatus since the debut of “Torches” which spawned a No. 1 hit on the Alternative Songs chart with their summer smash, “Pumped Up Kicks.”
According to Music Feeds, unlike "Pumped Up Kicks", the innocent lyrical content of 'Coming of Age' is unlikely to be pulled from airwaves for it’s controversial subject matter.
The single showcases frontman Mark Foster’s high-range vocals alongside the band’s melodic dance-infused pop and rock sound; a style of music spanning many genres, but solely mastered by the trio.
The new song teases their next record by featuring a video to accompany its initial release. The clip showcases the group’s true artistic nature through a time-lapse video of a mural painted on a Los Angeles wall, with the finished product revealed as the cover of Foster the People’s upcoming album.
Fans can expect the highly anticipated album to be a musical continuation of “Torches” with an added stylistic twist.
“It's not the record that people are gonna expect us to release second. It's definitely an evolution for us, and it's a more polarizing record for us, so I'm excited to see how it's received, for better or worse,” Foster told Rolling Stone last year.
“Supermodel” is the band’s second studio album on Columbia Records, and will be released on March 14th.
