France's first lady Valerie Trierweiler didn't go to the hospital for "extreme fatigue" as was claimed, rather she felt sick and lonely after taking pills the night before being admitted.
A friend of the first lady spoke with French magazine Le Point saying Trierweiler "took one pill too many" after being informed of her partner's infidelity, reports The Telegraph. The French President Francois Hollande told her about the affair in a "cold and implacable" way.
The next morning and the day that the tabloid Closer published the pictures of the alleged affair, Trierweiler asked to be taken to the hospital as she felt ill and "terribly alone." Le Point says that she didn't take the pills in a suicide attempt.
The actress involved in the affair, Julie Gayet, is now suing Closer for breach of privacy, the tabloid confirmed on Thursday. Gayet is reportedly looking for 50,000 euros in damages and 4,000 euros for legal fees.
Should Gayet win, Closer will be forced to print on its front cover the results of the suit, but the tabloid wasn't too worried about the lawsuit as it will likely sell 600,000 copies of the affair edition and another issue is forthcoming that promises new information and photographs.
