Actress Glenn Close has been cast in the dark comedy film Duchess, where she will play Anna Anderson, who had claimed she was the Russian Duchess Anastasia.
The film, written by veteran Nicholas Kazan, is said to be a dark comedy that is based upon the real events, according to Deadline, who first reported the casting.
The movie is also being described as a road trip comedy that revolves around Anderson's final days with her husband Jack Manahan. In 1983, he kidnapped her after she was forcibly placed into a retirement home and they went on the road. As they dodged cops, the reunited couple tried to enjoy a honeymoon, since they never had one.
Variety reports that Arie Posin is set to direct the dark comedy. He and Close previously worked together on 2005's The Chumscrubber.
Close can next be seen in the upcoming Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy, while Posin's new film Face of Love is out March 7.
