Actor Goran Visnjic has been cast to co-star with series lead Halle Berry in the upcoming CBS series Extant.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former ER star will play Berry's character's husband, John Watts.
Michael O'Neill, who recently appeared in Dallas Buyers Club, was also cast and he will play a former astronaut who has become the private space program's director.
Young actor Pierce Gagnon will play Molly and John's son, while former The Practice actress Camryn Manheim was cast to play Molly's best friend.
The summer series follows Berry's character of Molly who is trying to reconnect with her family after being away in space for a year. Human history is lead in a new direction directly because of her experiences.
A quick teaser trailer was released last week that states the definition of the word "extant" to be "still in existence" and "opposite of extinct."
No footage is shown other than several images flash quickly on the screen, including an embryo. The show is set to premiere on July 2.
