Oscar winning movie producer Harvey Weinstein has raised some eyebrows this morning with an appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show. The co-chair of The Weinstein Company told Stern that he wants to make a movie that will make the National Rifle Association angry and star Meryl Streep.

Weinstein said that the movie will make the NRA “wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them,” notes Mediate.

He said that the movie will star Streep, who was just nominated for an Oscar for the TWC production August: Osage County, and will “take this issue head-on.”

Politico notes that Weinstein said he doesn’t have a gun and he doesn’t want one. “I don’t think we need guns in this country, and I hate it, and I think the NRA is a disaster area,” Weinstein said.

He also gave no further details on this proposed anti-NRA film, but he wants to to be like Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, which tried to expose the politics of Congress. No one will want to buy guns after they see this movie, Weinstein claimed, adding, “It’s going to be like crash and burn.”

The comments from Weinstein have already sparked Internet chatter, as Weinstein has been an open supporter of Democrats and has several violent films on his resume. He helped produce many of Quentin Tarantino’s violent films, including Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained.
