A 19-year-old Home Depot employee who caught a baby falling out of a shopping cart has become a viral sensation.
The video has been posted on YouTube and has garnered over 166,000 views so far. The incident took place in an Anchorage Home Depot.
According to The Anchorage Daily News, Christopher Strickland, who just graduated from high school, was near the cashier area on Thursday when he noticed an unsecured baby in a car seat.
"I thought I'd keep an eye on it, in case something happened,” he said. When something did happen, and the baby fell from the car seat headed towards a concrete floor, Strickland caught the baby in mid-air and cradled her safely.
He said he had only held a baby a few times in his life, but from the video it looks as if he's a natural.
The baby’s father was sidetracked at the register when this happened, and he made sure to thank the hero before he left the store.
Strickland’s efforts have become viral now that his brother has posted it to YouTube. He will soon accept the Home Depot’s Angel Award.
