The 12th Hong-Kong Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) has announced 29 projects including a new honor for documentaries.

All of HAF’s entries are eligible for the Fushan Documentary Awards, according to Variety. Winners of the Fushan Documentary Award will receive a cash award of $12,880 (HK$100,000) and a contract with Fushan Features. The projects are pitched over a three day period in Hong Kong as part of the Entertainment Expo.

Fushan CEO Qin Qing told The Hollywood Reporter, "Currently in Asia, particularly in mainland China, HAF provides expert guidance to wanting to enter the film industry," said “It also provides a strong support to the aspiring talents to enhance the status of Chinese and Asian movies. We are confident that our collaboration with HAF for the award will help encourage documentary filmmakers.”

Filipino director Brilliante Mendoza, winner of the best director award at the 62nd Cannes International Film Festival, will show a new film this year. His new documentary is called Gay Messiah, and it discusses religion and belief.

HAF will be held March 24-March 26 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
