Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor, who is married to Human Resources Minister Shashi Tharoor, was found dead in her Delhi hotel room. Her passing comes after she had argued with a Pakistani journalist and alleged her husband and the journalist were having an affair.
Her husband was the one who reportedly first found Sunanda's body in the five-star hotel room, reports Reuters.
Shashi's personal assistant Abhinav Kumar spoke to reporters saying, "She was lying in bed. There was no signs of any foul play or any struggle. She had no sign of poisoning or anything."
Sunanda's death follows on the heels of her gaining access to her husband's Twitter account and posting alleged private conversations he had with the journalist Mehr Tarar, which Sunanda believed was her husband's mistress, according to The Telegraph. She also accused the Pakistani journalist of "stalking" her husband.
One of the messages Mehr sent Shashi read, "I love you, Shashi Tharoor. And I go while in love with you, irrevocably, irreversibly, hamesha [always] Bleeding, but always your Mehr."
The journalist has denied the affair allegations, claiming that perhaps Sunanda was merely imagining things. After finding out about Sunanda's death, she wrote on Twitter that she was "absolutely shocked" and offered condolences.
The minister and his wife were reportedly having marital problems, according to friends, and Sunanda was spending more time in Dubai.
