Instituto Luce-Cinecitta, the company known to promote Italian films, said that they have partnered with the U.S. distribution network, Emerging Pictures, to create a campaign called “Cinema Made in Italy.”

“Cinema Made in Italy” will make it easier for Italian films to be seen in the United States. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Great Beauty (La Grande Bellezza) is the first movie to gain visibility greater visibility. The Great Beauty is about Journalist Jep Gambardella who considers his life in Rome. It is written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino. The Great Beauty has already won a Golden Globe and a European Film Award. It is nominated this year for an Academy Award this year.

“Cinema Made in Italy” helped The Great Beauty to be seen in more than 100 screens in two dozen new cities. Four more titles have been offered for greater distribution, including Me and You (Io e te), from Oscar-winning director Bernardo Bertolucci.

According to Variety, Luce-Cinecittà Roberto Cicutto said, “This new platform will give our movies the chance to be seen in a wide array of theatres throughout the U.S., and not just in specialized art houses in a few big cities.”
