Oscar winner and American Idol veteran, Jennifer Hudson will be headlining a Carnival Cruise concert series.
Before Hudson took on her Oscar winning role in Dreamgirls and American Idol she made her living singing on different cruise ships. Now starting on Wednesday, she will return to sea as the main headliner for a new concert series on Carnival Cruise Lines called Carnival Live.
Hudson spoke about what it is like to return to her nautical roots. "I used to work on a cruise ship, a long time ago. That's what I did before I did 'American Idol,'" said Hudson.
The first cruise ship that Hudson worked on a was a Disney cruise, Web Pro News added.
Hudson will be performing on June 18 on the Carnival Ecstasy and June 19 on the Carnival Breeze, both in Cozumel, Mexico.
49 of these special concert cruise are in place and include performers such as Chicago, Daughtry, Foreigner, Gavin DeGraw, Jewel, Kansas, Lady Antebellum, LeAnn Rimes, Martina McBride, Olivia Newton-John, REO Speedwagon, STYX and Trace Adkins.
Tickets to the shows will be sold to individuals on the cruise, AP reported.
The cruise line posted a short YouTube video to help build excitement for the performances.
