Jerry Lewis will be recognized this year at the annual TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, TCM host Robert Osborne said in a statement, “Jerry Lewis is a very important name whenever movie comedy is discussed and enjoyed. Jerry has provided the world with great merriment and laughter, while also showing, in such films as Martin Scorsese’s The King of Comedy, what an exceptional dramatic actor he can be.”
In addition to his many roles in Hollywood films, Jerry Lewis is known for his humanitarian causes, particularly his campaigns against muscular dystrophy. He was the national chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and previously received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, according to Variety.
Jerry Lewis gained popularity in the 1950s and has over seventy credits to his name. He was recently seen in Max Rose and Till Luck Do Us Part 2.
Lewis will be participate in a hand and footprint ceremony on Apr. 12 during the TCM Classic Film Festival. The festival coincides with the 20th Anniversary of Turner Classic Movies.
