On a recent appearance on the Howard Stern show, Jonah Hill said he was only paid about $60,000 for his most recent Oscar nominated role in The Wolf of Wall Street, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Wolf of Wall Street is the Martin Scorsese’s film about Jordan Belfort, a wealthy stockbroker. Jonah Hill played Donnie Azoff, Belfort's loyal partner. Hill defended ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ at a brunch in Palm Springs. According to Variety, Hill said, “I personally take away the message from the film that this behavior, this lifestyle, leads to a very bad ending. I think the movie is not glorifying this behavior, it is showing that it leads to bad places whether their judicial punishment doesn’t reflect that is one thing. Where your life ends up, who you are as a person, is another.”
Hill’s low salary was not without rewards. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for The Wolf of Wall Street. He was previously an Oscar nominee for Moneyball.
Winners of the 86th Academy Awards will be revealed on March 2.
