Universal is ready to provide moviegoers with some laughs in between all the franchise sequels coming in summer 2015. The studio has scheduled Judd Apatow’s next film, Train Wreck for July 2015.
Train Wreck is the new title for the project Apatow and Universal picked up in August. Schumer will star in the film, with the hope that she will be the next breakout female comedian, following in the footsteps of Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig. They both broke into films with Bridesmaids, which was released by Universal and produced by Apatow. He also helped Lena Dunham, producing her HBO series, Girls.
Deadline reports that Train Wreck is scheduled for July 24, 2015. Apatow will also produce with Barry Mendel under Apatow Productions.
The summer of 2015 will be a busy one for Hollywood, with sequels and reboots like Terminator 5, Jurassic World and Avengers 2 all scheduled for that season. Train Wreck will be released the week after Warner Bros.’ Man of Steel sequel with both Superman and Batman is out in theaters.
Schumer already has a successful TV show of her own with Inside Amy Schumer, which airs on Comedy Central.
