The latest comedy from Judd Apatow has just received a release date. Trainwreck will open in a wide release in theaters on July 24, 2015.
Apatow will be pulling double duty on the project writing and directing with Amy Schumer starring in the upcoming comedy. Barry Mendel will also produce the film along with Apatow.
This will be Schumer's first feature film debut, fans know her from her work on Comedy Central's comedy show Inside Amy Schumer. Schumer also helped to write Trainwreck, Deadline reported.
Variety added that his last film This is 40, was released in the winter months and received low box office numbers. The Funny People director has had much better luck with his comedies when they have been released in the summer. The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up both received summer release dates.
Female comedies have been receiving high numbers at the box office. Films like Bridesmaids and The Heat have been proving that females in comedy can translate into box office profits.
