Since November, the case regarding a pregnant woman being kept on life support despite being brain dead, has been debated heavily. There have been arguments on all sides over whether she should be kept on life support due to her pregnancy. Now, a judge has ordered that the hospital keeping her alive must remove life support by Monday.

The ruling by Judge R.H. Wallace Jr. came two months after Marlise Munoz was found unconscious by her husband from what is suspected to be a blood clot, according to Fox News.

According to ABC News, there has been debate over Munoz’s case since the hospital felt they were bound under a Texas Law, which prevented the removal of treatment to a pregnant patient. However, since Munoz was legally dead, the judge ruled that the law did not apply.

It has also been reported that the unborn fetus has genetic abnormalities that were most likely present before Munoz suffered a blood clot. ABC News reported that medical contributor and OB/GYN, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, as saying that due to lack of oxygen and abnormalities during the mother’s collapse, “the two factors taken together could result in a situation that is incompatible with survival.”
