Kate Gosselin appeared alongside her twins Cara and Maddy, 13, on the Today Show on Thursday morning, where a bit of an awkward television moment transpired.

The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 stars where there to “let the world know” that they were doing just fine despite their father, Jon Gosselin’s comments to Oprah Winfrey that they’re “suffering developmentally” since appearing on reality television as kids.

When co-anchor Savannah Guthrie asked the girls to explain how they’re doing, they seemed to clam up and fail to get the words out. When Mady started with an “um…” and a long pause, Gosselin jumped in "Mady, your words. It's your chance. Spit it out."

Guthrie tried to diffuse the moment and make them feel more comfortable, offering "No, it's hard. It's a hard question. What about you, Cara?"

Cara unfortunately couldn’t get her feelings out either, forcing Gosselin to speak on their behalf, Us Weekly reports.

"So this is their chance to talk and this is the most wordless I've heard them all morning. I don't want to speak for them, but Mady go ahead . . that years later they're good, they're fine . . Go for it, Mady,” said Gosselin.

Later, Mady was able to answer a question that Guthrie asked Cara, if people got the wrong idea of them. "I wouldn't say wrong. I would just say not the full story. A lot of people think that filming our show has damaged us, but it's only really helped,” she explained.
